After closing the door behind Danica, Lisa returned to her office and sat down again at her desk.
Hiring the young lady was a risk she was willing to take. She'd been so eager to do something - anything - she hadn't even addressed the topic of a salary.
Lisa decided she'd pay Danny the standard amount that she paid for all probationary trainers. It wouldn't be a grand sum, but certainly not so little that her newest employee wouldn't be able to get by. And of course if Danny proved herself, which Lisa certainly hoped she would, there would be a pay increase.
"Okay, then," Lisa said to herself with a decisive nod. She checked her watch. It was late afternoon, and she figured by now all of Hudson had to have heard of Alice Gordon's challenge.
Seems that surname 'Gordon' is starting to get mighty popular in Hudson these days, she mused. And if things start going the way I think they will, it won't be long before Danica and Alice get to know each other. I'm positive they'll make fast friends, too.
Lisa glanced once again at the file on her computer that she'd begun before Danica's arrival.
On her screen was a wish-list of potentials for her W.E.N. team, which was now more than just a hypothetical team. Hiring Danica had cemented that into a reality.
The list was short, but she only needed three people to train under Danica.
Of course, the top of the list was Amy Fleming.
Alice Gordon was next, with an asterisk next to her name. After all, she was still as of the moment employed by Val Stanton.
Caleb O'Dell was the third name on the list.
Lisa quickly typed in 'Danica Gordon' as the Team Fairfield trainer and team leader. Satisfied with the list in its present stage, Lisa saved the file and shut down the computer. She planned to discuss the entire matter that evening over dinner with the Bartlett-Fleming clan.
I hope Amy and Caleb say "Yes", Lisa thought optimistically.
