[[ This is a continuation from the 4th post in the "The Loft" thread.]]
Man, there's no point in even replying to him, thought Ty as he began to lift the first of many cubes of hay from the truck in the yard and carried it into the barn, where he would leave the bail just outside as he cleaned the stall out. Once the stall was clean, he took the pitchfork and began to spread the cube among the stall, taking a bit here and a bit there. Soon enough, the first stall was done.
"Oh joy. Now I get to do this 3 more times.." Came the sarcastic remark from under Ty's breath. Eventually the tedious task began to come to an end, and Ty decided that he had earned a break. He walked out the barn and got in his old (but still very functional) little blue Ford truck.
"Where to, my friend?" he said as he started the engine, talking to his truck.

She made it around to the front of the barn, stopping at the paddock to stick her head on the top of a log in the fence and look at the chestnut horse. It gave her no notice and she smiled at it before kicking at the wood lightly. She turned away from the fence and spotted movement in the truck! The brown haired guy who sat there made her smile dance. "Ty's up!" She hopped away from the paddock as the truck started up. The loud noise did nothing to help the horse who irritatedly knocked at the ground with it's front hoof. Mallory ignored it. "Ty! Hey! Where're you headed off to?"
She got over to the driver's side door, tip-toeing and resting her arms on the door as she looked through wound down window. "Where is everyone? I got here about half an hour ago and waited around. Jack didn't come in and Lou and Amy weren't there. Or, well, I don't think they were there. . . I didn't look for them. Maybe I should have. Anyhow, you going into town?"

Ty let out an exasperated sigh. He had only been there for a couple days, and already he knew Mallory as the annoying chatterbox.
"I wasn't sure, I just finished spreading the hay around the stall, or whatever it is you people call it, so I was just going to for a drive somewhere. You know any places?" He asked without thinking, and instantly regretted it, knowing Mallory's reputation. He had a gut feeling that he probably wouldn't actually get to go anywhere for another 5 to 10 minutes, when Mallory was finished talking.

She giggled. Ty was a strange guy! But then again, she was pretty strange herself. She grinned at him. "Of course I know 'some places'. There a lot of places. It's just a matter of where not to go and where you can go. But most of them you get to on horseback, not in a truck. But I guess there are roads that go to the lake. . ." Her face crumpled up thoughtfully, then she stepped back from the door only to open it and jump in uninvited. She did not need to be invited to know that Ty would need some help navigating around her home town. There was no way she was going to let him get lost! Especially when she was practically dying of boredom with nothing to do. Sure she could take Copper out for a run, but he seemed tired the day before so she would just let him rest a bit for now.
"There's this place in town - it's called Maggie's Dinner. Soraya's mom owns it. It's really nice in there. They've got everything! Fishing stuff, anything you need for your horses you could order in. . . The food there is pretty good too if you don't want to eat at fancy restaurants all the time. I like the milkshakes." She nodded exuberantly after fastening her seat-belt. "And there's the area. We don't go there very often. But there's this new even that's supposed to be happening soon. Jack said he'd look into it and tell us more about it, but I suspect we know about it before him. School's out, but word travels fast. You don't need to be in school to hear gossip."
"Speaking of gossip. Try not to go anywhere close to Briar Ridge unless Jack or Lou knows you're going there first." [[ I think I like this one. XD ]]

Right once Ty started his truck to leave Amy came out. "What are you doing?" she asked while walking towards the drivers side window holding her horses Spartan. "Your suppose to be working, I can't do everything by myself, and Lou won't do it plus Grandpa's in town so what would you do if he saw you!!" She stood there and waited for him to reply!

Ty sat there speechless, his mouth open, as if he wanted to say something, but all that came out was "Well.. " He turned to Mallory, unable to believe that he was looking at her, of all people, for help.

Mallory looked excited and ready to go off on an adventure. Then came the shrill sound of Amy when she got frustrated. "Oh no." She sat forward, peering past Ty to look at the other blond girl, a small nervous smile on her face. She might have to add Amy to that list of people you wanted to warn. This whole family had too many disagreements with the Stantons to simply go over and spend time there.
"Well, Amy, you see. . . We were just going to town to see if Jack needed some help! Ty said he was finished muckin' out the stalls, and I just came over and saw him. And then I was telling him about Maggie's and Briar Ridge. And I was gonna show him where it was so he could avoid it, cause I know how much you an' Jack and Lou really don't want to get involved with them. . . I don't really like Ashley either. I've never talked to Mrs.Stanton though." She shrugged and tried to look apologetic, then she looked back to Amy hopefully. It did not take a lot to convince Amy sometimes, but other times Mallory hit the nail on the side in side of on the head, and just made things a lot worse. "Can we at least go to town and get lunch, then come back. I'll help with running the horses after, and we can show Ty where Maggie's is! Jack won't be back until at least two."

Amy just stood there and then came up with something to say, " Fine we can go and get something to eat but I have to go put Spartan in the pen so wait!" Amy started to lead her horse to the pen. "Okay I'm ready!!" Amy said has she climbed into the passenger seat. "But if we don't get back by the time Lou or Grandpa get back, I'm blaming you guys!!"

"Come on Amy.. Live a little, have some fun, let loose a bit.." Came the reply from a very relieved Ty, having been given a scapegoat. "Don't worry so much.. I'm sure we'll be back long before Jack gets back, and absolutely positive we'll beat Lou back."
As Ty started the engine on his old, run-down ford, the vehicle creaked to life, and they were off.
"Hey Mallory, you mind giving me directions on how to get around this barren wasteland?"

She grinned at her own success at having convinced the older girl to skip on the horse-runs for just a couple hours. She quickly undid her seat-belt and scooted over, watching Amy go back in with her beautiful black horse. "Cool! Ha! We so totally got her to come! It'll be awesome."
She swiveled, watching Amy emerge from the barn then sit in the passenger seat. When the engine revved to life and the truck began to move, Mallory began talking again. "But it's not a barren wasteland!" She protested. "It's full of life, right Amy? Not just horses and plants, and trees. But it is some way to the town, and you're pretty much used to a busier environment. When you get to the gate," She pointed up the hill "You wanna go left, then follow the road. Try not to hit any cows in the road. Amy and her mom saw one that had been hit once. It wasn't nice. I couldn't stay 'round it too long."

"Mallory!! You were freaking out and telling us to do something with it and then told us not to touch it!! Haha But we moved it anyways!" Amy said looking at Ty and Mallory with a funny face on. While they were driving away Mallory was going off about random stuff!
EDIT: Changed "Lol" to "Haha". For future reference, please don't use things like "Lol", "rofl" or anything like that.

"Man, as soon as I let you stay in my truck and come along, I knew I'd regret it Mallory.. And you know, it's a long walk home if we accidentally forget you at Maggie's.." Came a joking reply from Ty, as he nudged her with his right elbow.
"But on a more serious note, I'll do my best not to hit a cow, I don't intend to lose this baby yet.." Was all that Ty could say as he drove out into the open fields. *Not a barren wasteland eh? Ya right..*

"Hey, I didn't want to touch it, okay! It looked ready to. . . well. . ." she looked disgruntled, giving Amy a glance. She was a great friend, but it was horrible when she wanted to charge into those tough situations without thinking. One of these day, Mallory was sure it was going to backfire, and instead of helping the animal, Amy was going to get hurt. She looked over at Ty as he spoke, then her cheeks puffed out in an expression akin to a chipmunk's, and she looked offended. "You wouldn't!" she exclaimed, then folded her arms across her chest and refused to say another word.
Until about three minutes later, when they passed the road deviating from their path that lead them to Ashely's mother's stables. She immediately pointed it out, forgetting that she was not going to speak any more. "That road right there! It goes to Briar Ridge. We don't really go there unless Jack's got something to do with Mrs. Stanton. Or unless we're just really bored and want to see if we can race to the gates and back without her noticing. She scares me a bit."

"Yupp but make sure that if you do get caught, Mallory, that you don't make it suspicious!" Amy adds. "We don't want them to think that we are spying on them!"

"Wait a second - Let me get this straight.. You will just randomly come up here, and run up to somebody's fence, and run away.. Just for FUN?? My gosh.. You people are more dysfunctional than I thought.." Ty was in a state of near-shock, but kept driving, not wanting to be stuck in the truck with Mallory and Amy any longer than he had to. Not always Amy, but definitely when she is like this.
"Say.. How much longer until we get to Maggie's? I'm starving."
